Zootopia 2 is the sequel to Zootopia. It stars the returning voices of Ginnifer Goodwin as Judy Hopps, Jason Bateman as Nick Wilde, and Jenny Slate as Bellwether, and new additions like Mike Myers, Shawn Ashmore, Cate Blanchett, Bruno Mars, Will Patton, Elle King, Chrispin Glover, Kumail Nanjiani, and Grant-Lee Phillips. Alan Tudyk returns to voice a new character. It will be released on July 19, 2022.
On 2016, Moore and Howard had plans for a sequel. On May 22, 2017, they returned to direct. Clark Spencer returned as producer. On November 21, 2017, it was announced John Lasseter would not return as executive producer after taking a six-month absence. Lasseter will be replaced by Jennifer Lee as executive producer. Jared Bush served as screenwriter. After "Tokyo Zoo" was completed, Michael Giacchino was replaced by Disney's recurring composer Alan Menken. By February 2, 2018, it was confirmed that Goodwin, Bateman, and Slate would reprise their roles. It was also announced Myers would voice Tadashi Gorki and that Ashmore had signed in for his role. On December 23, 2018, Tudyk confirmed his return as a different character. Blanchett, Mars, Patton, King, Glover, and Nanjiani signed in for their roles in March 2019. On June 28, 2019, Goodwin revealed the plot: "In our story, the Zootopia Police Department roof breaks, and Nick and Judy have to travel through time in terms of finding building materials to rebuild the ZPD." It was originally set to release on November 24, 2021, but "Tokyo Zoo" took over its date, and it was pushed to July 9, 2022. On November 17, 2020, the film was announced at the D23 Expo. The first trailer was released on September 25, 2021. The second trailer debuted with "The LEGO Chima Movie" on January 5, 2022. The final trailer was released on May 12, 2022. In 2021, Grant-Lee Phillips joined the cast.
