Wonder Pets: The Movie is a 2026 American animated adventure comedy-drama action film produced by Nickelodeon Movies and distributed by Paramount Pictures. It’s based on the 2006 Nick Jr. preschool series “Wonder Pets!”. The film was directed by Josh Selig, Jennifer Oxely, and Mike Mitchell, written by Josh Selig himself, and produced by Tone Thyne (who also produced the original series). The music for the film was composed by Larry Hochman, who also provided the music for the original series. The film was released on March 3rd to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the original series.

The film stars Sofie Zamchick, Teala Dunn, and Danica Lee, who reprise their older roles as the titular characters, while Cooper Corrao, Kelly Marie Tran, Ogie Banks, Lizzie Waterworth, Tara Strong, Candi Milo, Cukee Lee, Julie Andrews, and Marie-Luise Marjan play their roles as side characters from the show. Iain Armitage, Keke Palmer, Shayle Simons, Maya Rudolph, Sean Kenin, Anika Noni Rose, Craig Robinson, Jennifer Lopez, Tom Hanks, Jay Gragnani, Skai Jackson, Ashley Tisdale, Huck Milner, Euwenn Mikaell, and Wanda Sykes voice new characters introduced in this film.

Synopsis

After a lifetime of adventures as classroom pets, traveling the world to save animals in need, The Wonder Pets—Linny, Tuck, and Ming-Ming—have now reached their teenage years and retired from their heroic duties. Little did they know that their peaceful retirement would be disrupted by the emergence of their ultimate foes, the Blunder Pets. There leader, Linnel, holds a deep-seated grudge against Linny for replacing him as a classroom pet and is determined to seek revenge. The Blunder Pets kidnap The Wonder Pets and lock them in a hidden fortress in the outskirts of their town. As the Wonder Pets face this unexpected threat, they must once again rely on their exceptional teamwork and problem-solving abilities to overcome a series of perilous challenges, and the Blunder Pets' big group of henchmen, Blunder Troopers. In the midst of their harrowing journey, the Wonder Pets make a startling discovery: the existence of their own families, adding a new layer of complexity and emotional depth to their lives. As they confront the Blunder Pets and unravel the mysteries of their own origins, the teenage Wonder Pets must navigate a world more complex and dangerous than they ever imagined.

Development

In November 2024, Josh Selig announced his intention to revisit the Wonder Pets! franchise, expressing a desire to create a reboot series or a feature film. Although initial plans for a reboot series titled "Wonder Pets: In the City" were in motion, they were later abandoned in favor of a more ambitious film project aimed at expanding the Wonder Pets! universe.

Fast forward to February 2, 2025, and Josh Selig confirmed that a Wonder Pets film was indeed in development. He revealed that the original cast (Sofie Zamchick, Teala Dunn, and Dancia Lee) would be returning to bring the three characters to life once again. Moreover, he assured fans that the film would introduce new villains, characters, and six surprising new characters. Departing from the original series, the film was expected to embrace a more intense and dramatic tone, catering to audiences who grew up with the Wonder Pets series.

As of December 27, a teaser trailer was released.

On January 3, 2026, a full trailer was released.

Release

Wonder Pets: The Movie premiered at the Vue Leicester Square in London on March 3, 2026, and also premiered in the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, and was theatrically released in United States. It was also made exclusively available on Paramount+ on the same day in the United States.
