UglyDolls 2: Return of Uglyville is the upcoming sequel of the 2019 film UglyDolls. It will be released in theaters and on demand on May 6, 2022.

Plot

Cast

  • Kelly Clarkson as Moxy, a pink uglydoll with lots of confidence, hope, and curiosity. Her design is based on that of Gorgeous, a character from the original toyline.
  • Janelle Monáe as Mandy, a kindhearted perfect doll who wears glasses for eyesight problems and befriends the Ugly Dolls

Production

On May 10, 2019, it was announced by STX Films that a sequel was scheduled for release on May 27, 2022, with Zack Snyder reprising his role as director, and Cinesite Studios returning as animators. On July 30, 2020, Ava Max and Andy Dick joined the cast; Max voices a new character named Alyssa, while Dick replaces Wang Leehom as the voice of Lucky Bat. It was also pushed forward two weeks to May 13, 2022. On December 7, 2021, it was again pushed forward one week to May 6, 2022, while it's on the date, for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. In February 2022, Kevin Hart was revealed to have voiced a new character for the film. In March 2022, the film shifted its release for a simultaneous premium video on demand rental and theatrical release on the May 6 date, in the United States and Canada, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the rising cases of the SARS-CoV-2 Delta variant.

Sequel

In May 2022, director Zack Snyder stated that he would like to make a third sequel. "We've certainly thought about it. There are other stories that we would be excited about telling. But for us, it’s really about seeing if people love this one, and then taking it from there."

On August 3, 2022, STX Films officially announced that a third sequel, titled UglyDolls 3: Mighty Uglyville was in development, with Zach Snyder confirmed that he will direct a third sequel, while Greg Tiernan confirmed that he will serve as a producer along with Conrad Vernon and Robert Rodriguez. Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta joins the cast in a new role. The film is scheduled to be released on July 19, 2024. In the film, when a colors meteor crash-lands in Uglyville, it gives the UglyDolls have Superpowers, transforming them into the Mighty Uglies.

Although Adventure into the Internet is fake, there will be no live-action and no Disney.
