Trolls Melodic Turn is an upcoming 2026 American computer-animated jukebox musical comedy film produced by DreamWorks Animation and distributed by Universal Pictures. Based on the Good Luck Trolls dolls that were created by Thomas Dam, it is the sequel to Trolls Band Together (2023) and the fourth and final installment in the Trolls franchise. The film was directed by Sean Charmatz and Tim Heitz, written by Jonathan Fener, Josh Bycel, and Elizabeth Tippet, and produced by Kelly Cooney Cilella and Steven Schweickart. Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake, Camila Cabello, Ron Funches, Anderson .Paak, Ester Dean, Gwen Stefani, David Fynn, Kenan Thompson, Rachel Bloom, Kunal Nayyar, Eric André, Daveed Diggs, Kid Cudi, Troye Sivan, Zosia Mamet, Karan Soni, and Dohrn all reprise their roles from the first three films and Lauren Mayhew, Megan Hilty, J.P. Karliak, Vladimir Caamaño, Michael Leon-Wooley, Anita Kalathata, Charles DeWayne, Eric Lopez, Jeanine Mason and Kat Graham also reprise their roles from TrollsTopia. The returning cast is joined by Jennifer Lopez, Post Malone, Shawn Mendes, Liev Schreiber, Chance the Rapper, Carol Burnett, Hayley Williams, Lana Del Rey, Skylar Astin, and Billy Magnussen, who voice new characters introduced in this film. In the film, Poppy (Kendrick) and Viva (Cabello) learn that their mother, Queen Maria (Lopez) is still alive, and they, along with Branch (Timberlake), his brothers John Dory (André), Spruce (Diggs), Clay (Cudi), and Floyd (Sivan), Queen Barb (Bloom), Delta Dawn (Mermelstein), King Trollex (Lee Mendia), Trollzart (Dudamel), and Cooper and Prince Darnell (Funches and .Paak, respectively), King Zion Turi has been kidnapped by Queen Maria from starting a revolution with the other Troll Kingdoms in order to become the greatest troll who ever lived.

In October 2023, a month before the release of Trolls Band Together, Dohrn expressed interest in directing a fourth film. The film first entered development in early April 2024, shortly after the release of Kung Fu Panda 4 (2024). The film's title and returning cast members were announced in mid-2025, with new ones announced in March 2026. Due to the lay-off of several employees at DreamWorks in late 2024, this is the first installment in the Trolls franchise that is not animated in-house, with animation services being provided by DNEG instead. Theodore Shapiro, who previously composed the scores for Trolls World Tour (2020) and Trolls Band Together, returned to compose the film's musical score.

Trolls Melodic Turn premiered in Los Angeles on September 4, 2026, and was theatrically released in the United States on September 25. The film grossed over $234 million worldwide and received positive reviews from critics and audiences.

Premise

Two years after performing the Perfect Family Harmony, Pop Troll queen Poppy and her boyfriend Branch have reunited with their respective older siblings (Viva for Poppy and John Dory, Spruce, Clay, and Floyd for Branch), with said siblings moving back into Pop Village on the Troll Tree in order to live closer to their families. Branch and his brothers have even started a new, updated version of BroZone, called "BroZone 2.0", in addition to collaborating frequently with Branch's other boy band Kismet. Furthermore, Viva and the rest of BroZone 2.0 have begun bonding with other trolls of different musical genres, such as Queen Barb of the Hard Rock Trolls, Delta Dawn of the Country Trolls, King Trollex of the Techno Trolls, Trollzart of the Classical Trolls and Cooper and Prince Darnell of the Funk Trolls. While it may seem like all is well with the Troll Kingdoms, things end up becoming even weirder when Queen Maria, Poppy and Viva's mother, returns to the Troll Tree, having survived an earlier encounter with the Bergens, and is seeking to become the queen of the Pop Trolls again, with the intent of starting a revolution with the other Troll Kingdoms and becoming the greatest troll who ever lived in existence. Poppy, Branch, Viva, John Dory, Spruce, Clay, Floyd, Cooper, Prince Darnell, and Barb must work together to save Queen Maria by King Zion Turi before all the Troll Kingdoms go to war with each other and Maria comes out on top amidst the chaos.
