Sadie the Dog is an upcoming American live-action/animated fantasy comedy film directed by Charlie Bean (director of The LEGO Ninjago Movie), from a screenplay written by Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, and Tommy Swerdlow, and a story by Swerdlow. It is a prequel to the television show Nature Cat as it takes place before the show's first episode and the finale. The film will star Ed Helms, Vinessa Shaw, John Travolta, Cristela Alonzo, and Bill Hader, with the voices of Lily Tomlin, Derek Jacobi, Wallace Shawn, and Leslie Carrara-Rudolph reprising her role as Sadie from the Nature Cat television series. The film will be produced by Universal Pictures, eOne Films, Davis Entertainment, and Team Todd. It is scheduled to be released on May 22, 2026 by Universal Pictures.
In this film, a dog named Sadie starts her new adventure safety on finding a new home, a new neighborhood, and her new dog friends and animal friends with the help of a human friend in Chicago, Illinois after her previous home and her previous neighborhood in Bielefeld, Germany were both destroyed by a storm and after being separated from her parents.
