On a dark pink, cel-shaded, starry background, as the sun shines on the planet, the camera pans backwards across Europe and Africa. Then "UNIVERSAL" in white with golden bordering, (written in Sans Serif) rises upward as the sun pans down, and light glows on the continents. Then the screen eases back to its familiar position. The continents glow as the globe revolves showing the Americas. The sun shines, leaving a glow behind the Earth. Then the byline, "A COMCAST COMPANY" fades in underneath. The "UNIVERSAL" name shines before fading out.
On a dark background with a reflective floor, we see a cel-shaded stacked text reading "ILLUMINATION" (written in Futura Condensed) with a flash of pink light shining over the "T". It slowly fades to black after a few seconds.
It opens with gameplay footage of the original Super Mario Bros. The camera slowly starts zooming out, revealing squares containing footage from other Nintendo produced and published/licensed games placed side by side. Then, the camera zooms out further, revealing that the screens are forming a mosaic in the shape of the Nintendo Stars logo on a white background. Finally, the logo fades into a cel-shaded, pink gradient color. As the background finishes, the logo fades out.
The scene begins with revealing the background of the outer space, with multiple texts fading in and out, "Universal Pictures and Nintendo Stars presents" and "a Chris Meledandri / Masahiro Sakurai / Shinya Kumazaki production". The camera then follows a yellow shooting star as it travels through far reaches of space and crashes down to a star-shaped planet with two glowing rings, Planet Popstar.
