Kirby's Dream Land 3 is an upcoming 2032 animated action-adventure comedy film based on the Kirby video game series. It’s the third installment in the Kirby film series, it was directed by Walt Dohrn (Trolls Band Together; Shrek 5) and written by Michael McCullers (Mr. Peabody & Sherman; The Boss Baby: Family Business). Idris Elba, Tom Kenny, Juliet Donenfeld, Jennifer Lawrence, Nat Faxon, Ashley Tisdale, and Fred Armisen reprise their roles from the first and second films, and also Sebastian Maniscalco, Chris Rock, and Thomas Parobek reprise their roles from the second film, with Keanu Reeves and Krysten Ritter joining the cast. In the film, Kirby (Tom Kenny), Bandana Dee (Sebastian Maniscalco) and King Dedede (Chris Rock) face Shadow Kirby (Keanu Reeves), who allies with the knights, Meta Knight (Idris Elba) and Dark Meta Knight (Idris Elba) to pursue a revenge against the galaxy.
Kirby's Dream Land 3 was announced in February 2030 during NBCUniversal’s investor event before the release of Kirby's Dream Land 2 (2030). Filming began in July 2031. Production ended by March 2032. The movie’s plot draws elements from the 2004 video game, Kirby & the Amazing Mirror for the Game Boy Advance, and the 2020 digital video game, Kirby Fighters 2 for the Nintendo Switch. Reeves was cast as Shadow Kirby due to the parallels between his performance in the John Wick films, The Matrix films, and his role as Shadow the Hedgehog in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (2024) and also Dohrn’s vision for Shadow Kirby.
Kirby's Dream Land 3 premiered at the Empire Leicester Square in London on December 14, 2032, and was released by Warner Bros. Pictures in the United States on the following Christmas Eve that year. It received generally positive reviews, with praise for Elba and Reeves' performances, and was a box office success, grossing $463 million worldwide on a budget of $122 million, becoming the highest-grossing film in the franchise. A fourth film is due to be released on March 23, 2035.
