Aster and the Accidental Magic (also known as Aubépine in the French release) is a 2025 2D-animated fantasy adventure comedy film heavily based on the book Aster and the Accidental Magic by Thom Pico and Karensac. This and its sequel both take place in an alternate storyline.
In an alternate timeline, Hilda, instead of coming back to her mum, stays in troll country for about 10 years. Meanwhile, young Aster (formerly Baba) discovers her past as a troll. Determined to find answers, Aster decides to leave the city behind her foster family's and friends backs. With a trusty dog companion named Buzz by her side, the unlikely duo set on a quest, making new friends along the way. However, as Aster dives deep into the mystery, she realizes there’s more than meets the eye.
